His accolades include the 50th National Award (2008) and the Junior Fellowship Award from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India (2013-14). De's work reflects a commitment to exploring important themes through the interplay of form and concept, invaluable to the contemporary art landscape.

De collaborates with local women from his native Kirnahar to craft works that critique the rapid transformation of his rural surroundings. Instead of traditional earthen homes, monumental buildings and construction dominate the backgrounds of many pieces, with a burst of colours that hints at the erosion not only of his village’s natural and cultural order but also of a simpler, more authentic aesthetic (...).
